Sunday Reading.

June 3rd, 2007 · 4 Comments

Wow. An event that brought back disturbing memories of our time at Editme, Firefox just crashed in the middle of me writing this post and I lost everything. Of course, since this was only to be a list of interesting links, I eschewed my general practice of writing the post in Textedit and transferring everything at the last minute. I will not make that mistake again.

Anyhow, welcome to Sunday Reading, a new “regular” feature on the Jo-Tel. I figure we’ve been doing pretty well with the Pic and Quote of the Week, and Johnny D is “hard at work” on creating an event calendar feature for the sidebar, so I’m throwing another hat in the ring: the weekly link dump.

On the Network, we send out lots of interesting links which I generally don’t get to look at until Sunday, when I’m too hung over to leave my bed and am procrastinating on reading whatever book(s) I’m between pages 15 and 100 in. So … if anyone else is in the same situation, sitting around, still not quite sure what they’re supposed to do with all this free time on Sunday after being conditioned for the first 21 years of life to do homework, here:

Two top 10 lists from RadarOnline. Top 10 Worst Moms Ever (a good list, but conspicuously absent is the mom from Wisconsin whose son escaped from his cage and walked barefoot in 20-degree weather to the police station to get help for his as yet uncaged sister) and Top 10 Bible-thumpin’est Congresspersons.

And also this, which Thrill sent out. Damien Hirst out-blings all rappers combined in one fell swoop (article and pictures). Poor Cam’ron. Question though: sure, the entire skull is covered with flawless diamonds, but where’s the grill piece, yo? Hmm … perhaps you’re right. Wouldn’t want to overdo it I guess.

From the NY Times: an insider’s look at the keepers of Google’s search algorithm. Hey dudes, thanks for the “Alia Shawkat tits” love. Also, an article about the guy who plays all the Stradivari and Amati violins in a museum. I always wondered about this. What an interesting job, and rife for psychoanalysis.

Seed magazine. David Byrne and a neuroscientist discuss music. Need I say more.

From the (hack! cough!) Huffington Post, Rome is beautiful this time of year.

From Wired, what to get PETE for his birthday (July 13th, ladies!)

-PETE

PS: A hearty congratulations fro the Jo-Tel to Carla, aka Mini-Female-Stickler, on her engagement. And Happy Birthday to Hilary (June 2nd) and Giles (June 1st).
