Last weekend was the first of four consecutive weekends where I will not be in LA. I am excited about this development, since LA sucks as I have four less friends around—net—than last summer. All I do when I’m here is work, go to the gym (I’m motivated most by the fact that the water pressure in the shower at my gym is about 1000% better (I could’ve gone bigger than 1000 if I were exaggerating … but I’m not) that the Jo-Tel South’s (I’m thinking about dumping the Jo-Tel South nickname. I’m not in love with it. How about Jo-TeL.A.? No … )), and look at shit on the Internet. I feel like Gary. The reading list is going well though. Thanks for asking.
“In a March hearing of the House Telecom Subcommittee, [Rep. MikeDoyle (D-PA)] lauded [Greg Gillis aka Girltalk] and his work, in which snippets from disparate artists fade into and out of a witty collage powered by hip-hop rhythms and rap lyrics. “Mr. Chairman,” said Doyle, “he blended Elton John, Notorious B.I.G. and Destiny’s Child, all in the span of 30 seconds!” Everybody loves the Elton John and Biggie part. It’s awesome.
The NYT was fucking yawn style this week. Here, an article about Wrangler Jeans written by Marc Jacobs. Good read if you dislike both Wrangler Jeans and Marc Jacobs. Oh wait … there was this, though.
Good Newsweek article about the U.S./Mexico soccer rivalry. Not that I have anything against Mexico, but when you’re in this country, my friends, you root for AMERICA!!
In R. Kelly - Double Up news this week, a podcast from Slate discussing the album.
Bad Astronomy. Great name for a site. Interesting post about a star that’s going to explode, and why it’s good that the thing is “pointed” away from us.
As I’ve said before, black holes are sweet. Microscopic black holes? Created at the dawn of the universe? Lurking inside planets? Oh yeah … I said it.
And finally, a pretty awesome YouTube clip of some insane guy going and complaining to Charlotte, NC city officials about a rogue helicopter pilot.

PETE, I sent this to Hip E. before. Given the stuff on astronomy in your latest post, I thought you’d dig this. It’s NASA’s daily photo archive. Some sweet shots of the cosmos…should keep you busy since you have no friends and all:

Yo. I dig the Sunday Reading feature but I think your formatting is shitty. Check this action:

These guys do a weekly digest style post that is similar to Sunday Reading. However, the way its formatted as blocks of text with the link as the header makes shit more readable.

Jaskot, thanks for the link to the 37 signals site. Pete, you should read the first post there by George Orwell. It’s like an English major’s wetdream. Given your penchant for English grammar, you’ll enjoy Orwell’s comments…

That’s a very famous Orwell essay which I read for the first time while in high school. It’s been making it way around the internets due to the Orwell resurgence that has in turn been due to the Iraq War, and to a lesser extent, Christopher Hitchens’ book “Why Orwell Matters,” which I own and should also probably try to read this summer.

Sorry I suggested it, butthole. English majors suck.
