This will be a short post, but I just want to preface it by promising that I will not throw in Shakesprearean language like "methinks" or "betimes" and think it's funny or witty. In fact, I won't even insert such language and think that it's NOT funny or witty. I'm just not going to do it. With that said, March will be Shakespeare month at the Jo-tel. Everyone is encouraged to line up a few plays or sonnets to read during the month.
In addition, I will be coordinating the viewing of a wonderful array of filmic adaptations. In furtherance, I have obtained a NetFlix membership. The following already sit delightfully in the queue:
Othello (1995; Branagh/Fishburne)
Othello (1952; Welles)
O (1999; Fillipe)
Henry V (1945; Olivier)
Richard III (1958; Olivier)
King Lear (1975; Kozintsev)
Ran (King Lear) (1985; Kurusawa)
Throne of Blood (Macbeth) (1957; Kurusawa)
As You like It (2007; Branagh)
Hamlet (Olivier; 1948)
And there will be more to come! Finally, I am planning to coordinate a low-key but highly wonderful Shakespearean festival for the end of the month that will likely involve the following three events: (a) acting out segments from your favorite plays; (b) drinking booze; (c) me getting naked.
End transmission.

Come on Shark, no modern Shakespeare appreciation is complete without all of the film adaptations of Romeo and Juliet.

I will be holding a separate screening in my room of the Adam Sandler classic, “Little Nicky”

Make sure you screen Little Nicky at the same time as Ran.
