A Network moment re: the so-called quarterback for the Cal Bears.

HIP E. Well, obviously if we had known Longshore was going to get badly hurt against Oregon, we would have been able to predict this. Turns out he had the worst injury possible - one that would allow him to keep playing.

THRILL: Mormonism?

SHARK: Zing.

Mormonism only gets a bad rap because it was founded comparatively recently (and thus, is far more easily disproved as nonsense and fairy tales).

It is no more ridiculous than just about everything else out there. I used to mock Mormons mercilessly, but now I mock all religious zealots as equally as I can.

Bock, I will respond to this. I just don’t have the time these days. But I’ve been wrestling with this very issue for a long time. I think it’s very important to continue mocking Scientology and Mormonism a lot. Yes, they are low-hanging fruit. But if you can get people going on the ridiculousness of Scientology, and then on Mormonism, and you get them to make the connection, then you’ve taken a major step towards them realizing that all religions are based on charismatic people saying some cool-ass shit and then a bunch of vulnerable people believing them. This book I read ONLY while duecifying in the Jo-tel, A History of Christianity by Paul Johnson, is great because it goes through all the politics, propaganda, and infighting that went on through the first few hundred years of Christianity and the factors that went into choosing which books made the canon. The upshot is that these goofy evangelicals who think The New International Version is the magic WORD OF GOD are dumb.
