A 920-foot-long container ship scraped along one of the fenders protecting a Bay Bridge tower this morning because of the insane fog we had. Rosie and I were wondering what all the fucking sirens and fog horns were about; looks like this was it. The bridge is fine; they just have to replace about 100 feet of the fender. The ship leaked some oil into the bay, which sucks, but they stopped it in time to avert a big problem.

I heard it was about 50,000 gallons of oil. On Thursday I was walking by one of the railroad tanker cars and noticed that those things hold 39,000 gallons. So about one and a quarter railroad tankers of oil. Shitty.
